Baptism

Baptism

Thank you for exploring baptism as the next step in your journey with Christ.  At Christ Life Church we believe that baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has accepted Christ as his/her Savior and Lord. We consider it a privilege to walk with you as you take this next step on your spiritual journey. We ask that you sign up at the information center or call the church office at 480-777-9803 for Tempe campus or 520-426-0173 for the Casa Grande campus.

Who Should Be Baptized

Christians believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, salvation occurs only when a person places his or her faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his or her sin. If you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, the next step is baptism, which is an opportunity to publicly declare to others that you have accepted Christ and are now walking with Him.

What Baptism Symbolizes

Baptism is a way of showing others that one has entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ. It symbolizes what took place in the heart at the time of salvation:

  • Acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Sharing in His death and resurrection illustrated by going under the water (death to the old life), then rising again (embracing new life)
  • Being symbolically washed clean from sin after receiving Jesus’ forgiveness by His death on the cross

Because Jesus instructed His followers to be baptized, baptism is an act of obedience. While it is not necessary for salvation, it demonstrates submission to God. We baptize by immersion at Christ Life Church because we believe Scripture shows that Jesus modeled that for us as the way to publicly acknowledge our faith in Him.

The Baptism Process

The baptism process at Christ Life Church has been designed to be both simple and meaningful. We would like this historical event in your life to be as memorable as possible.

  • Indicate on a commitment card at Sunday service that you want to be baptized
  • Get baptized! Baptisms can take place every service on a Sunday during worship service in Tempe.
  • Casa Grande has special baptism Sundays, usually taking place after the later service.
